5 Melanin Approved Sunscreens

Wearing the Biore sunscreen with my favorite filter  and lots of excitement for this post!

Happy Wednesday guys! So to be completely honest, I started using sunscreen regularly only about a year ago. Growing up in Ghana, it was just never a thing and when I decided to give it a try in the US, it always left me looking like Casper the Friendly ghost. Frankly, I also just felt that as a black girl, I didn’t need it. So what changed for me?

Well, … Continue reading

Happy Monday guys! I hope your week is off to an amazing start. Summer finally arrived here in the UK last week and it’s been awesome; fingers crossed it stays that way for a while. In continuing my summer series, I’ve put together a list of 10 summer beauty essentials and the best part is that they are all from black owned brands! I had so much fun discovering new brands and getting reacquainted with familiar ones in putting this list together. I’m … Continue reading

8 books you should read this summer

20 best

Summer’s here although you’d be hard pressed to tell here in London given that the warm weather has only decided to play peekaboo with us. *sigh* Weather grievances, aside I believe that the summer is always a great time to get into the escapist luxury that a good book offers. Whether it’s during your downtime at the beach or pool, or before your bedtime, sinking your teeth into a great book or 8 (jk but not really lol) is always a great way to enjoy … Continue reading

The Fishermen by Chigozie Obioma

After my favorite author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie mentioned in an interview that she had really liked this debut novel by Chigozie Obioma, I knew I had to get my hands on it stat. Chimamanda had after all reignited my love for African literature, one of the indispensable platforms which allows us as Africans to tell our own narratives. The only problem, however,  was that the book wasn’t due to be released until many months down the line. Almost a year later, I finally got my … Continue reading

Day Trip to Virginia Water

FB_IMG_1464099149146Two weekends ago, I took a day trip to Virginia Water with a group of new friends from church. Since I’ve been in England,  I’ve been committed to exploring as much of it as possible so this trip fell right into my wheelhouse. The weather, a very unpredictable thing prone to random bouts of rain here in England, thankfully cooperated. It was warm yet cool enough for us to have a fun picnic and then hike around the Windsor Great Park luxuriating in all of Continue reading

My Intro to Korean Skincare and my current Routine

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

A few of the items from my initial collection

I’ve been a skin care junkie for as long as I can remember. I can vividly recall spending hours on my skin “regimen” back in middle school which consisted then of aloe vera plant bits and my trusty face cloth; you couldn’t tell me anything! Fast forward to today and I’m still as addicted to researching and trying new products. It hasn’t always paid off but getting into Korean skin care has definitely been a highlight in my skin … Continue reading
